Layered Link offers KVM and OpenVZ virtualization platforms. If you would like further advice, feel free to contact us.

OpenVZ Platform

Supported distributions: Linux only
OpenVZ (Open Virtualization) is an operating system-level virtualization technology based on the Linux kernel and operating system. OpenVZ allows a physical server to run multiple isolated operating system instances, known as containers, that can only run linux based operating systems. One disadvantage of OpenVZ users can't make any kernel modifications. Being one of today's most popular virtualization platforms, OpenVZ provides users with speed and scalability at an affordable price. Check out our available OpenVZ vServers.

KVM Platform

Supported distributions: Linux/Windows/FreeBSD/Custom OS from ISO
KVM (for Kernel-based Virtual Machine) is a full virtualization solution for Linux on x86 hardware containing virtualization extensions (Intel VT or AMD-V). It consists of a loadable kernel module, kvm.ko, that provides the core virtualization infrastructure and a processor specific module, kvm-intel.ko or kvm-amd.ko. KVM also requires a modified QEMU although work is underway to get the required changes upstream. With KVM you get a hosting environment with your own ISO, also allows you to choose custom kernels as well as custom kernel modules for your KVM VPS guest OS. Check out our available KVM vServers.
